My Funny Valentine

For the past two weeks I have slowly been crafting my "Comeback" blog post, however, given today's events, I have decided to postpone that entry in favor of this one. After reading this little gem, I am sure you will understand why I have had neither the time nor the energy to keep this blog current. Here goes...

Like all parents with children on Valentine's Day, I spent my morning making sure that Angelina & Caroline each had their bags of valentines packed & ready for their class parties. And because Angelina's birthday happened to fall on Sunday, I also had to go by Krispy Kreme to make sure my order for 25 heart shaped donuts would be ready by 1 p.m., so Angelina could celebrate her birthday with her class. THEN, because Caroline chose Monday as the day for me to bring her lunch this week, I also had to swing by Subway & grab her a sandwich. And it was during the sandwich drop-off at noon that my Valentine's Day went all crazy.

First of all, I have come to learn that good news is rarely revealed when a teacher pulls me aside and asks,"Did you get the e-mail I sent you this morning about Caroline?". The response I always want to give is, "Who's Caroline? Never heard of her." Anyway, I hadn't seen the teacher's e-mail b/c I had been so busy running around town. If I had had the time to sip my coffee and read my e-mails I would have discovered that at some point Caroline went into our home office, used Bob's office chair to climb onto the credenza, reached into my special hiding spot, and grabbed a $100.00 bill - which she then took to school this morning & gave to a little boy named Tyler as a Valentine's Day present. Apparently, the BIG V-Day present was quite the topic of gossip amongst the kindergartners at Grayhawk Elementary. Caroline's teacher explained to the me that when the first tattle tale advised her that Caroline had given Tyler $100.00, she just assumed it was Monopoly money. BUT after hearing the "rumor" from multiple kids, she decided to investigate further. After searching Tyler's backpack, she found the $100.00 bill. I tried to explain that Caroline must have taken the bill from the box of $100 bills that I keep in the home office. The more I tried to explain my secret "cash stash," the more I started to feel like she thought I might be a drug dealer. The whole thing was just soooo "Caroline", and as always, AWKWARD.
